ABOUT DANNY
———————–
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!

I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.

On YouTube and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.

Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble

I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

  • What degree bounce your wedge? Is it better using low bounce wedge than high bounce wedge on tight lie? On floppy lie, I don't have problem using bounce but on tight lie I hit a lot of thin and skull on tight lie. I need your advise please?

  • Hi Danny, thanks for posting this. My short game was awful, almost to the point of me wanting to sell my clubs. Now every time I go the practice green I watch this video first and it has made a huge difference to my game. Yes I still hit the odd bad one but at least now I have confidence over the ball and that makes a massive difference!

  • I haven't read all 600 plus comments so someone might have already mentioned this, but why not just putt this particular shot instead of chipping it. I would venture to guess that 90% of golfers would get this shot 90% closer by putting instead of chipping. The great Jack Nicklaus has even said as much and I heard he was pretty good!

  • Great video Danny. Here in South Africa where I live we have been in lockdown since 26 March and no golf facilities have been open. I have a decent sized back garden so have been putting your chipping technique to good use. Maybe I'll surprise my mates with some killer chipping once the courses reopen!

  • Saw this video a year ago and I've been chipping one handed ever since. Best lesson I've ever had was watching this video. Thanks Danny!

  • Great help Danny. I too struggled adding the left hand back in until I figured out how INCREDIBLY light not only the left hand grips the club but ALSO THE RIGHT HAND. You briefly mention a light grip with the right and might emphasize it even more. I was trying to direct the clubhead too much until gripping so lightly I am barely keeping the club from sliiping from my hand. Thanks so much from the U.S.!

  • How do you recommend hitting a pitch shot where you have a flier lie, thick grass or a hazard in front and the pin is cut close to the edge of the green? You have to hit it hard enough to pop it out of the grass and to reach the green. So how do you stop it and get it within 10 feet? I always end up 30 feet past the hole.

  • I don't comment too often on videos.. but a little backstory is that I'm definitely working through a case of the yips here.. and one handed I hit perfect (but struggle with distance control and aim with it.. contact is perfect however). Every time the 2nd hand goes on.. every shot is thinned. I think I've spent the entire covid-19 lockdown outside practicing but I just can't get the confidence. Anyhow I'm still trying to practice but am super frustrated.. I'm hoping to look back at this comment in a months' time and respond after practicing every day.

  • Just saw your catapult video today. That works for both irons and for the driver. There we do leave the lead hand in front before the release. So chipping is different than both irons and driver?

  • This is me… I'm absolutely awful around the greens and began chipping one handed which helped massively. Soon as I put my left hand on, then it was (game over) so frustrating… It got to a point where now I don't even play no more.

  • Hi Danny, another great video. My chipping area is quite small with a rockery to chip over. Have you got a video on how to do a flop type which would be like going over a bunker and getting it to stop quickly?

  • Brilliant Danny so glad you decided to turn this into a vid lesson…. Totally liberating to see what you can do with one hand and instantly it liberated my mind from the tension chipping can sometimes cause me… Since this my consistency of strike has gone thru the roof ….You should really expand on this concept… Big game changer for me👍

  • Hi Danny, as I can't go to the golf club at the moment (due to the pandemic) I am try to improve my lob shot (60 deg wedge) in my garden.
However my shots are very inconsistent in direction and distance. Can you give me some setup /swing tips to practice at home.
    Cheers,

  • Chipping is inversely proportionate to the number of drinks you had the previous night apart from the different ways you you hit the ball.

  • After a long winter of not being able to swing the clubs as much as I had wanted, yesterday's round "ugly", mainly the pitching and chipping. A majority of my score was within 100 yards of the green and some of that was taking 3 chip shot just to get onto the green. This weeks daily technique trainer is chipping. I will let you know how it goes.

  • I watched a video made by Phil Mickelson recently where he teaches the "old way" with hands and also weight forward and then changing ball position depending on if you want loft or not. Not sure if its because my wedges are 20 years old, but that is the only way that actually works for me, nearly every time. The "new way" as per this video, works too, but nowhere near as consistent and I still thin it maybe one in 5.
